End Citizens United is a germane grassroots funded political action committee aimed at reversing the devastating ruling of the United States Supreme Court in 2010 that declared corporate entities as persons. This counter organization came into existence on March 1st, 2015 and has since been on a steadfast mission to reform the American campaign financing system. Their goal is to build a nationwide coalition of concerned citizens to boldly stand up to the billionaires who have determined to use their deep pockets to unduly and unfairly slant elections in favor of their dark money objectives.

In August 2015, Richard Carbo the Communications Director for the End Citizens United Committee gave an inside look to MSNBC reporter Aliyah Frumin. He shared that in a span of a few months the coalition of supporters of over 325,000 strong had already raised several million small donor dollars to support pro-campaign finance reform Democratic candidates during the 2016 election cycle. They planned to partner with other democratic pro-campaign finance reform groups to employ and coordinate strategies comprised of petition signing, television ads, and direct mailing to help bring their fight to the forefront of platform issues. The combining of forces would bring their numbers into the millions to stand boldly in opposition to Citizens United enablers.

End Citizens United fought hard to help enact campaign finance reforms on the local and state level in 2016 without success but remains determined to achieve the daunting task of an amendment to the constitution overturning the 2010 Supreme Court decision. A constitutional amendment must win consent from two-thirds of the House and Senate, in addition to ratification by three-fourths of states. Rick Hasen, an expert regarding campaign finance regulation and professor at UC-Irvine School of Law said groups like End Citizens United are effective at maintaining public awareness and keeping political pressure that urges those involved (the Supreme Court and politicians) to not make things worse.

End Citizens United is growing in persistence and courage. The fight continues to support candidates that are pro-campaign finance reform. They will not leave one stone unturned in reaching the ultimate goal of that elusive constitutional amendment. They continue to lay it all on the line toward the inevitable end to the disaster that is Citizens United.
