Betsy DeVos Making a Difference in People’s Lives

Betsy DeVos is known for various reasons. She is an innovator, advocate, and a leader with a proven track record. Her involvement in the education sector, business as well as politics have revealed that she is a trailblazer in fighting the barriers to bringing change and to coming up with the right environment for people to thrive. At one particular time, Betsy DeVos served as the chairperson of a private investment and management firm known as The Windquest Group. Being the chair of the American Federation for Children (AFC), Betsy has spearheaded the fight to boldly bring reforms to the American education system that is broken. She has given the Americans even more options for children’s education. Through this organization, more than a million children are attending the schools their parents choose rather than staying cocooned in schools that fail to meet their needs. The residents of West Michigan have also benefited from the opportunities brought to them by Betsy. Upon her encouragement, her husband founded a public charter high school known as West Michigan Aviation Academy. The school has combined Betsy’s passion for education and Dick DeVos passion for aviation. Betsy DeVos continually mentors elementary students through an organization known as Kids Hope USA.

Betsy is a political giver and is associated with the Republican Party. She first made her donation to aid the re-election of President Bush. In the year 2008, she organized a Republican fundraiser at her home. Betsy believes in giving back to the society and as such is the co-chair of the Dick and Betsy DeVos family foundation that was founded in the year 1989. Through this foundation, Betsy has given $11.6 million as welfare contribution. Considering the passion that she has on education, many institutions have benefited from the benevolence of the DeVos. One of them is Loudspeaker International that received a total of $400,000. At the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts where Betsy once served as a member of the board, the family foundation gave $250,000.
